"Heart Warming and Rejuvenating"
There are some moments in your life where you can put a finger to and say "this was the highlight of that year," and this retreat is exactly it! Not only were the yoga classes amazing, the energy & spirits that surrounded them were absolutely divine. The yoga instructor was exceptional. She eased us into poses with grace. She focused on prayanama breaths and took each movement step by step. Her philosophy and perspectives towards yoga is for the mind/body/soul. Mandala Ou resort is the perfect location for this short break. The owner is an amazing cook and host. We spent the four days by stretching our bodies in the morning, going for yoga lessons in the afternoon and beers in the evenings. We left the space with yoga lessons and made 10 more close friends for life!
"Amazing time, deep yoga practice, great experience!"
I joined the February yoga retreat in Nong Khiaw. It was such a great experience, and the best yoga retreat I found during my few months in South-East Asia. The yoga practice felt deep, full and thoughtful. The yoga group was amazing, with such a good energy during classes and our free times. Workshops were amazing and made me realize all the yoga potential on both physical and spiritual wellbeing. This retreat made me go deeper into my personal practice, and I really look forward to join another one later this year. 🙂 I can only recommend to live a yoga retreat in Laos. Nong Khiaw is a great place to rest, enjoy the hikings and surroundings, or just feel free! Many thanks to the retreat team! Keep up your beautiful work.
"Wonderful and Magical Experience"
The yoga retreat was really amazing, I didn't expect that. I wanted to find a way to relax and always thought yoga and meditation would be perfect for that. However, I just couldn't really get into meditation and yoga just hurt me a lot (especially the downward facing dog)...so I gave up many times. In the retreat the teacher explained us how we can do the postures effectively and I learned to do them right and suddenly it worked out and I really started to like it 🙂 Never have I heard about the importance of legs and the breath, but it's just so helpful. We were also taught different ways to meditate or focus on the breath, where I found one I can stick to. The group was small and the people really nice. The teacher is great as a yoga teacher, but has also a very warm personality. The place is breathtaking, you start in the morning with a view on the clouds over the Nam Ou river, which is magical. The mornings are a bit chilly but I think it's actually perfect for yoga. Mandala Ou is very nice, I loved my room - clean, comfortable, mosquito net over the bed). Another highlight was the food during the retreat - the best I had in a long time while traveling...and there was plenty of choice (and quantity) for both breakfast and dinner. I can absolutely recommend it and loved my time there.
"Amazing Retreat"
This retreat took place in paradise. Surrounded by almost vertical hills in a peaceful village on the river, the location at Mandala Ou resort was perfect. We did yoga overlooking the river while fishing boats paddled past. The yoga classes were brilliant. Having practised yoga for four or five years, I learnt much more from this retreat than I had from other teachers. We also had discussions about yoga philosophy and meditation sessions. The food was delicious, the accommodation was comfortable and there was plenty to do in the village if you wanted to wander a bit. I would definitely do it again.
"A Balance of Experiences"
There is a balance of experiences, mind, body and soul. I really enjoyed the partner work, level up workshop (personal work) and the power of breath. The teacher was passionate, compassionate, pushing us gently to keep trying.
"Beyond the Classroom Practice"
I really enjoyed getting a deeper understanding of yoga, beyond the classroom practice and physical aspect of yoga.
"Teachers Were Beyond Amazing"
I really enjoyed the variety of the energy of the group. The 5 rhythms exercise was really fun. The two teachers really made the retreat even more meaningful. I think that the teachers were beyond amazing. Keep sharing your love, light and crazy! Thank you!
"Amazing Pair of Teachers"
Kathy and Julie are an amazing pair of teachers, and they have great, compassionate energy. The retreat was well thought out and programmes facilitated introspection and self-awareness. Location and facilities were just perfect - away from he hustle and bustle of the city but was still tremendously comfortable. Throughout the retreat I felt seen, heard and that my preferences mattered - Kathy and Julie care about our wellbeing and it really showed! Thank you!
"Mind-Opening Retreat"
This retreat really opened my mind to awareness aspect beyond just mindfulness in yoga as an exercise but as a form of meditation and channeling energy flows, connecting mind and body. The spiritual aspect of yoga if i may put it that way. It was a such great opportunity to connect with the locals too.
"Excellent Combination of Detox for Body and Soul"
Thank you for the detox retreat at Villa Samadhi. It was an excellent combination of detox for both body and soul. The program was very well put together and I in particular enjoyed the discussions and practices around mindfulness. I will gladly join you for a retreat again.
OUR PARTNERS
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK US
No. We are not a yoga studio. We are a community yoga initiative as well as a global yoga collective. We offer classes, workshops, and retreats just like any yoga studio would, without being limited to a particular location or culture. Our teachers and students are based in Singapore and around the world. We are at the forefront of a new way of sharing, teaching, and learning about yoga without the limitations of ownership.
Urban Yogis Pte. Ltd. is a legal entity based in Singapore, and we receive payments in Singapore dollars. Our experiences however, are held in Singapore and around the world. In Singapore, classes and workshops are held at the Botanic Gardens, MBS Boardwalk, the Lawn at Marina Bay, Sentosa and Lululemon on Duxton Road. Our retreats are held in Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar. We are continuously adding new locations to all of our offerings, along with an online academy coming soon. Please continue to check in with us.
The reasons are endless, but here are a few. Because we are not a yoga studio, we are not limited by the needs of ownership. This means that our time is spent more on creating customized content for YOU. This allows us to offer higher quality classes, workshops and retreats in which you will experience yoga through a more holistic approach.
We also believe in taking yoga outdoors. Yoga postures and philosophy were inspired by landscapes and forces of nature. Many people spend a large part of their day indoors, surrounded by walls. Why not take your yoga practice outside and experience greater freedom.
Finally, the early practitioners of yoga shared their experiences anywhere they could, in forests, in caves, in parks, and in homes. This fosters an environment for genuine experimentation and exchange. Anyone could join. Anyone belonged. We welcome everyone from young to old, from poor to wealthy, from healthy to sick, from all walks of life. There is something for everyone.
No we are not a third party vendor for any of our experiences. All of our teachers, classes, workshops and retreats are handpicked and carefully curated to the highest quality. We are not a yoga resale platform.
We are always open to expanding our team. However, please note that you may be required to join some of our proprietary training programmes. This may not immediately qualify you to teach although you may be offered the opportunity for some non-teaching involvement as part of the community. Message us to inquire.
