We redefine the yoga experience for anyone looking for an edge through a personalised, authentic and immersive environment beyond the studio setting.
GET TO KNOW US
It’s a collaboration! After 5 years of Urban Yogis operating under Wellness Collective Pte. Ltd. – an entity run solely by Kathy Gabriel, Urban Yogis has now officially incorporated as an independent entity as of May 2019 with Julie Moksim joining as co-director.
Urban Yogis was born out of the shared idea that yoga experiences are defined by the community of people who gather together for a class, a workshop, a retreat, or informally for a chat in a coffee shop or a park. Yoga can experienced anywhere, with freedom, beyond the culture and walls of a yoga studio.
We’re redefining the yoga experience for anyone looking for an edge through a personalised, authentic and immersive environment beyond the studio setting. Urban Yogis is a growing global community, giving you access to high quality and authentic teachers from around the world, in locations that will allow you to experience the whole practice of yoga.

Kathy Gabriel
Although yoga and complementary health were always in my family, I only picked up yoga as a teenager during a period of spiritual seeking. After my mom’s passing, I found myself heartbroken and spiritually lost. Initially, in order to work with grief, I sought out Buddhism and meditation which helped for many years but I soon realised I needed something more – a practical (for lack of a better word), physical and grounding practice that could support my existing framework and philosophies. From there, my understanding of health and wellness began to expand and it was through a holistic practice, I learned how to found solace, ease, and balance to move through the different seasons of life.
On top of Yoga, I am a certified sound therapist. I use sound to create profound spaces of rest and deep healing to help clients to overcome challenges such as anxiety, depression, fear, stress, insomnia, high blood pressure, hyper tension and chronic pain. My interests with sound lie in understanding and measuring human physiology, energy and emotions through Heart Rate Variability. I help my clients understand their internal landscape, nervous system and overall health, empowering them with the tools of awareness to restore balance in the body and mind.
I am also a certified Craniosacral Therapist, professional member of Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT). I offer healing and recovery by gently guiding the body, mind and spirit back to its natural state of harmony. My intention with this work is one of gentle release, safety and non-judgement. I am constantly infusing all my learnings and weaving my experience and knowledge into the wider practice. I am deeply passionate about learning, sharing and facilitating transformational experiences relating to the self and health. I am currently based in Singapore but I travel around the world to share my love for the practice.
Co-creator and Yoga Instructor
Julie Moksim
I’m Singaporean by birth, global citizen by lifestyle, having lived in Indonesia, Egypt and India as a child and young adult, and later in the United States, Laos and Myanmar. My spark for yoga began while I was living in Boston in 2003, but my calling to teach grew much later out of the joy that I developed as a teacher’s assistant at the studio that I attended regularly. After completing a teacher training in Bali with Rachel Hull, Anna Smallwood, Emil Wendel, James Newman and Dr. Sujatha Kekada in 2011, I moved to Laos and started a yoga cooperative called Luang Prabang Yoga. Both the yoga cooperative and the immersive retreat programs that I lead under Laos Yoga Retreats have in some ways, put Laos on the map as a destination for yoga. I also co-owned a yoga studio in Myanmar between 2017 and 2019. My partnership with Kathy and Urban Yogis has grown out of a collective purpose to share knowledge and bridge the gap between people of different cultures, languages and belief systems. I trust that when a group of people comes together from all walks of life, the opportunity for learning is boundless. Yoga has been an essential platform for these gatherings and for experiences that create more open-minded humans. Today, the biggest influence in my practice and teachings is Edward Clark of Tripsichore Yoga. He reinforces the importance of authenticity in how we express ourselves in movement. Ultimately, this translates to authenticity in life. I’d like to say to people out there, don’t be afraid to find out who you are, and when you find that person, don’t be afraid to be the person that you are! Thank you for taking the time to read this and to browse our website and offerings.

Samanta Duggal
Yoga Retreat Instructor
Antje Leubbe
Antje practiced different types of yoga for 15 years until she moved to Thailand for a job. In Chiang Mai she started practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa on a regular basis and only then did the Prana really hit her and she understood what is meant by ‘Yoga is something I am, not something I do’. She wanted to learn more about the philosophy behind this movement therapy and spread the Love. Numerous workshops and the iflow Teacher Training in Ubud, Bali with Amy Pastore gave her the knowledge and courage to find ‘her kind of yoga’ and teach it. Antje’s teaching style is fluid, modern, playful and dancy, reflecting the many sports and different types of yoga that have influenced her practice. She has been teaching yoga locally and internationally since 2013. Her classes are a perfect balance between intensity and centering and will leave students feeling high and smiling for hours.
Yoga Retreat Instructor
Mana Takai
In 2016, Mana left her creative director/consultant position in Japan’s fashion industry after almost 2 decades. She started traveling more to get closer to her true nature and joined yoga classes while traveling in Southeast Asia. After she got back to Tokyo, she took practicing seriously. She finally decided to move to Chiang Mai, Thailand to change her lifestyle from one of the busiest cities, Tokyo, and go back to the sprit itself. She has found healing, compassion, and peaceful mind through ashtanga yoga practice and meditation. This transformation is what she shares and offers through her teachings. Mana has been extensively studying, practicing, teaching, and traveling throughout the world including , Thailand, Laos, Japan and Washington DC, USA.
Fun fact: In 2016, Mana came to Laos as a student on one of our retreats. Since then, she has returned to two more retreats (once as an assistant). Mana also came back to Laos to teach regular classes as part of the Luang Prabang Yoga team.

FUN FACTS ABOUT OUR FACILITATORS
"The Adventurer"
I have been traveling with one and a half suitcases since 2016. Outside of yoga, my interests are food, people and traveling. My life philosophy is: travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light!
"The Wanderer"
Over the last few years, when people ask me, "where are you based?" my answer is "I have no idea, let the universe lead me." Outside of yoga, my interests are traveling, homo sapiens, and cultural diversity. My life philosophy is: eat less, laugh more; think less, feel more; possess less, give more; be a fresh breeze of the air to the world!
"Life of the Party"
I grew up in India during the 90s, just before the economic boom. I ran the back alleys of Old Delhi after school and learnt a way of life that most people will never understand, straddling that line between privilege and abject poverty. It shaped me. Outside of yoga, my interests are snowboarding, power lifting, F45, hiking, kayaking, and traveling. My life philosophy is: the glass is always at least half full!
"Dog-Lover"
I embarked on my spiritual journey at the age of 14 when my mother passed. It was when I started cultivating yoga as a holistic practice, where I sought out solace, ease and balance to move through various seasons of life. Outside of yoga, my interests are running, hiking, being outdoors and spending time with my dogs. My life philosophy is: know yourself, be yourself and trust that the right people will love you.
"The Voice"
Growing up in the mediterranean area, I have grown to love activities just as much as a proper siesta at any time of the day. I believe and have experienced that we create our own happiness. Therefore I smile and laugh a lot. Things that make me smile and laugh are singing, being in nature or creating things with my hands, like jewellery. My life philosophy: Dance like nobody is watching.

WORKSHOPS

These yoga workshops range from a few hours to multiple sessions over several days, and cover topics from philosophy to breathing, to anatomy and therapeutics. They are designed to engage you, to fire up your interest and your passion for yoga, to have fun and to meet other like-minded people. Taking your practice to the next level requires careful delivery of information and a space for open-minded discussion. We offer the space to do just that.
