MINDFUL DETOX RETREAT - 24HR Digital Detox & Juice Cleanse

THURSDAY 8th – FRIDAY 9th JULY, 2021

PAUSE . . . BREATHE . . . and FEEL. Sense deep into your own body, and even deeper into the patterns of thought and emotion that govern your experiences. The process of detoxification brings us closer to understanding our own personal neuroses. As we bring ourselves closer to the edge of discomfort, without the means that we often turn to as distractions, we begin to develop a heightened sense of awareness through intensified sensations, emotions and thoughts. Pausing can take the form of stepping away from your daily life, putting aside your digital distractions and even allowing your digestive system to rest and reset. On this 24-hour digital detox and juice cleanse, we offer an intimate group setting as a support system, to guide you through the process with knowledge, and to ensure that you get the most benefit out of this experience.

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO CLEANSING

The retreat takes a holistic approach in building your understanding of the detoxification process so that the lessons you learn over this 24-hour period become education for life rather than a singular experience. While many people may choose a juice cleanse or any other type of cleanse from a weight loss or diet perspective, our approach is that of building total health through the body and mind in a way that is less goal oriented and more about the process. Gentle yoga sessions, breathing, introspection, journaling and discussion are essential components to ensuring that you connect with the complete experience. The vehicles through which we learn are the digital detox and juice cleanse, but this opens us to the opportunity for emotional cleansing; identification and cleansing of our vices; identification, deconstruction and reconstruction of our habits and patterns; and much more. The end result is greater clarity, and perhaps feeling lighter not just through the digestive system, but through a letting go of the excesses in our lives that do not serve us.

WHY RETREAT?

Whether its your first time detoxing or your 10th time, the process is consistently challenging. Taking yourself out of your day to day environment with an intimate group of people who are also going through the same process allows you to immerse entirely in the experience. You will not only receive the support and guidance of the instructor, but you are given the opportunity to explore, share, and discuss with other like-minded individuals. At the same time, the tranquil rooms of Villa Samadhi will serve as your meditation cells where  much of your contemplations will take place. The quiet surroundings of the private grounds at Villa Samadhi offer stillness for deeper soul-finding. Retreat to recharge and reset.

THE JUICE CLEANSE

Your juice cleanse is provided by EGA. You will begin the juice cleanse the evening before the retreat begins. Your first juice and two triphala pill are to be picked up the day before the retreat from an EGA location of your choice. Consume a healthy dinner at a reasonable time. Please do not consume any alcohol the day before the juice cleanse. At 10:00pm, prior to going to bed, you will take the two Triphala lax pills.  Your first juice will be consumed at 7:30am on the morning of the retreat, prior to departing for Villa Samadhi. During the day, you will receive FIVE more juices to consume. Your cleanse ends on the morning of day 2 where you will break your fast with a light, healthy, vegetarian breakfast to ease your way back into consuming solid food.

    Co-owner & Yoga Instructor

I’m Singaporean by birth, global citizen by lifestyle, having lived in Indonesia, Egypt and India as a child and young adult, and later in the United States, Laos and Myanmar. My spark for yoga began while I was living in Boston in 2003, but my calling to teach grew much later out of the joy that I developed as a teacher’s assistant at the studio that I attended regularly. After completing a teacher training in Bali with Rachel Hull, Anna Smallwood, Emil Wendel, James Newman and Dr. Sujatha Kekada in 2011, I moved to Laos and started a yoga cooperative called Luang Prabang Yoga. Both the yoga cooperative and the immersive retreat programs that I lead under Laos Yoga Retreats have in some ways, put Laos on the map as a destination for yoga. I also co-owned a yoga studio in Myanmar between 2017 and 2019. My partnership with Kathy and Urban Yogis has grown out of a collective purpose to share knowledge and bridge the gap between people of different cultures, languages and belief systems. I trust that when a group of people come together from all walks of life, the opportunity for learning is boundless. Yoga has been an essential platform for these gatherings and for experiences that create more open-minded humans. Today, the biggest influence in my practice and teachings is Edward Clark of Tripsichore Yoga. He reinforces the importance of authenticity in how we express ourselves in movement. Ultimately, this translates to authenticity in life. I’d like to say to people out there, don’t be afraid to find out who you are, and when you find that person, don’t be afraid to be the person that you are! Thank you for taking the time to read this and to browse our website and offerings.

Kathy Gabriel is a Yoga teacher, Craniosacral Therapist & Bodyworker licensed under Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT). Although yoga and complementary health was always in her family, she only picked up yoga as teenager during a period of spiritual seeking. She initially sought out Buddhism and meditation out in order to process her grief. Through the years, her understanding of health and wellness began to expand and it was through a holistic practice, she learned how to found solace, ease and balance to move through the different seasons of life. She is deeply passionate about sharing this practice with others, helping them navigate their own journey through the belief that all that one ever needs lies within.
